Workspace

In keeping with our practice style of teamwork and interactivity, we brought in architects BURKETTDESIGN and artist Emilio Lobato III to create a remarkable office environment that makes our employees, clients and guests feel at home.

McGeady Becher lobbyInspired by the austere structural beauty of Japanese barns and industrial warehouses, the design team created a space that is rich with layers of color, texture, and detail.

Generous windows bring daylight and views into an interior where raw concrete is juxtaposed with light-colored ash and polished metal. Surprising architectural elements, sculptural light fixtures, furniture, and original art bring an aesthetic to the space which creates an environment which nurtures thought and creativity. A circular floor plan encourages interaction, and numerous comfortable seating areas foster communication.

The beautiful workspace was completed in August of 2007. The prime corner of office space, with views of the downtown skyline was designed with the employees in mind to provide a beautiful, light-filled lunchroom and community space.

In 2008, the McGeady Becher Cortese Williams office space won three awards from the 2008 American Society for Interior Designers, including:

  • Best Commercial Design Under 35,000 Square Feet
  • Best Design Elements, Commercial
  • Judges Merit Award, Commercial

Additionally, the office space was featured in the Spring 2008 edition of Architecture & Design of the West and the June 2008 edition of On Site magazine.

Art Collection

We believe art enhances the space in which we live and work, which is why we have been collecting original works by regional artists since 1985. We are privileged to share these more than 125 expressions of beauty and creativity with our clients.

McGeady Beecher Art CollectionLoosely unified by an abstract style and an organic aesthetic, our collection includes sculpture, glass, painting, photography, and works on paper by noted artists such as Bill Amundson, Betsy Bauer, Stephen Dinsmore, Emilio Lobato III, Mary Mackey, Don Quade, Carl Reed, Mark Sink and Bill Starke.

Recognizing the collection’s central role in our office, furnishings and light fixtures were carefully selected not only for their own sculptural qualities, but for their compatibility with the art.

One of our most asked-about pieces is Lobato’s impressive Distrito Especial (Special District, a play on words that also refers to the Firm’s core business), which hangs in the McGeady Becher Cortese Williams lobby to greet clients and guests. Measuring approximately four feet by eight feet, the mixed-media painting was custom made to complement the architectural design of the workspace and incorporates a blueprint of the office’s architectural floorplan.
